Special Occasion Cakes @special_occasion_cakes_on is located in Tillsonburg, Ontario and is owned and operated by Susie and Sarah, two sisters that started baking at a young age with their mom.


Their brick and mortar storefront opened its doors in 2018, but their passion for the love of baking started at four and five years of age. Not having much growing up, they found joy in creating pastries with their mother. It was embedded deep inside them from the way their mother kneaded bread to the order that she added ingredients. They were intrigued with the entire process and when given the opportunity to take co-op placements as they grew up - they chose bakeries!

It was the sheer enjoyment on a customer's face that made it have a special feeling for them. They try to treat all customers like family, stay humble and try to keep their bakery as eco-friendly as possible.


Prior to the brick and mortar store, the sisters started their business from home - gathering the necessary tools for the job and their customers. When they chose to open the storefront, social media played a huge role in their advertising to share the word.


As heard from many entrepreneurs, the sisters have a hard time shutting off the business from their mind, and often feel like they take work home with them. The journey has been a love-hate relationship, but they love the process and being able to share it with loved ones.


Special Occasion Cakes continues to grow and serve the Tillsonburg community as well as the surrounding areas. They create beautiful custom orders including pastries, beverages and cakes. All their creations can be adjusted to suit the needs and wants of the customer by offering gluten-free, dairy-free, vegan or simply just altering the flavors.

  Hydrogreen Irrigation Inc. was started back in 2008 by Brandon Happeney. They offer irrigation services for residential, commercial and sports fields. They are located in and around Barrie, Ontario, but travel into the GTA for jobs as well. Brandon and a friend started their irrigation business when they were eighteen/nineteen on the side while they were working for another irrigation business. They were using the equipment from their full-time job, but were also compensating their boss completely for the use of equipment. When Sara and Shanna were both diagnosed with breast cancer during the pandemic, they were thrust into one of life’s most difficult challenges at a young age—and in isolation.
