Sweet Lou's Cookies

 



Sweet Lou's Cookies was opened by Lou Gazzola in March of 2020 (yes, the beginning of the pandemic). It was founded and built in a test kitchen six months prior, but with enough success Lou decided to approach the bank to secure funding and lock in a lease at their location at 341 Weber St. N, Waterloo.

Sweet Lou’s Cookies doesn’t only specialize in cookies, but milkshakes, sundaes and ice cream sandwiches as well! If you can’t make it out to the location, no worries. They can get your artisanal fresh-baked cookies delivered to you through Uber Eats, DoorDash or Skip The Dishes.


Lou has been an intrepreneur and innovator for 20 years, working with large companies such as TD and Rogers launching major internet services and websites for them. Throughout his career he had written many business cases, and when the idea of a cookie business came to mind, he decided to write up a business case and present it to investors and bankers whom supported the idea.


So, why the cookie business?


Well, over the course of some road trips with his daughter and wife he had made some stops for cookies. Everytime, the places were packed. With some thought and pondering he thought they could do better, treat cookies like pizzas and have a variety of toppings. Therefore the idea was sparked based on the obvious fact that the business would do well based on supply and demand.


Ok, what about the name? Why Sweet Lou?


Back in University, Lou got the nickname “Sweet Lou from the Sault” which stuck with him wherever he went.


Over the past few years they have had some exciting milestones and learned some lessons. One exciting milestone was Valentine’s Day of 2020, where they sold a week’s worth of cookies in one day. The best milestone to them is the customer feedback and creating a memorable experience for them.

  Hydrogreen Irrigation Inc. was started back in 2008 by Brandon Happeney. They offer irrigation services for residential, commercial and sports fields. They are located in and around Barrie, Ontario, but travel into the GTA for jobs as well.
