Belleville Sign Rentals



Belleville Sign Rentals was purchased in 2022 by Todd Cole and originally started by a friend of Todd’s back in the 80’s. Belleville Sign Rentals rents portable signs to businesses looking to advertise their business at the curbside in the Belleville and surrounding areas.

Originally, the name of the business was A1/Gotcha Sigh Rentals. This name was changed by the original owner to Belleville Sign Rentals as a representation of the city in which the business resides.

Todd has always had a desire to own his own business, and has educated himself over the years by reading countless books by many high profile business people to try and get a grasp on business principles and ownership. 

Todd for the year or so prior to purchasing the business had helped out his friend with the business, taking on changing the letters at multiple sign locations and learning a bit about the business. The opportunity eventually came that his friend was looking to part ways and sell the business. Todd saw this as a perfect opportunity to own his first business and began to work towards purchasing the business. He began to think of additional ways that he could grow the business - the challenge excited him. Eventually, after they got everything sorted legally and financially, Todd was the proud owner of Belleville Sign Rentals.

Even though Todd self-educated himself through the years on business and business ownership, he realized there is still more to learn as he is in his second year of business. On top of learning the ins and outs of running a business, he juggles this business with a full-time job and being a father to four girls. 

Belleville Sign Rentals itself is a full-time job, so Todd has learned to work through these challenges and does a great job at it if you ask his family members. Additional challenges that he has faced with taking on a business is learning a new accounting software, and balancing the different aspects of the business outside of the ‘generic role’ itself of changing the letters and moving and removing signs. He needs to balance time and energy for accounting, marketing and customer service on top of his already busy schedule.

Todd is enjoying the journey of running this business and is looking forward to growing the business with more sign locations and adding more digital advertising opportunities for his clients and future clients. The milestones are going to continue to come as the business grows, but so far he has enjoyed the milestone of agreeing to purchase the business to the day of purchase to then seeing the one year mark of ownership!

When we asked Todd about one thing he would like us to share, he said

“I would like the community to know that we are more than just lettered signs. We offer a variety of advertising needs, including digital. We continue to expand into other aspects of marketing.”

  Hydrogreen Irrigation Inc. was started back in 2008 by Brandon Happeney. They offer irrigation services for residential, commercial and sports fields. They are located in and around Barrie, Ontario, but travel into the GTA for jobs as well.
