Maid in KW Cleaning Co. @maidinkw was started in May of 2021 by Jen Gosling. Just a few days after her birthday.


Maid in KW is a completely chemical-free residential cleaning company serving Kitchener, Waterloo, Cambridge and Stratford areas. They will work with your schedule, whether you choose to be home or away and have a reputation that is immaculate!


Let’s dive into more about the business and Jen, shall we?


Back in 2018, Jen was diagnosed with cancer. With this diagnosis, she began on working on becoming more natural, which included putting down the toxic chemicals. This has been a journey for her, but when she decided to start her business, she took the same approach with the chemical-free cleaning.


Did you know that it only takes 26 seconds for a cleaning product to enter your bloodstream and go directly to your internal organs? No? Neither did I.


Her eco-friendly efforts don’t stop there! Maid in KW is part of the One Tree Planted Program. For each house cleaned, there is a tree planted in your name. To date, they are well into the thousands of trees and have lost track. They are first and foremost a natural company and decided this would be a good way to give back.


Speaking of giving back, they also have a couple of charitable initiatives that they started. Random Acts of Cleanliness is a charitable initiative that raises money for families in the community in need, especially during the Christmas season. Another initiative that Jen has started is Santa’s Little Hamper, which has been running for just over three years now. This program so far has raised enough money for over 100 children to have gifts under the tree and food to eat at Christmas time. This past year they collected toys and gifts for 30 children who wouldn’t have otherwise had an enjoyable Christmas without the generosity of her clients and instagram followers.


As you can imagine, Jen keeps herself very busy. With running a business and charitable initiatives, you think that would be enough. Well, she also has time to be a wife and a mother to a teenager. I can only imagine that Jen has her hands in a few other pots as well! 


She has had her share of hurdles and learning experiences with running a business including recruiting, marketing, deciding when to hire new employees, navigating government regulations as well as overhead cost inflation and competition. It can be scary running a business, there are many hard times and struggles. Sometimes it is tough for her to stay positive, but the tough times don’t go without recognition. Since the commencement of Maid in KW, they have won the Waterloo Reader’s Choice Award three years in a row.

  Hydrogreen Irrigation Inc. was started back in 2008 by Brandon Happeney. They offer irrigation services for residential, commercial and sports fields. They are located in and around Barrie, Ontario, but travel into the GTA for jobs as well.
