From Streak to Shine: Meet Monday Window Cleaners and Owner Devin Stewart
Monday Window Cleaners is a locally owned window cleaning business proudly serving Kingston, Ontario, and the surrounding area. Specializing in seasonal residential window cleaning and year-round commercial services, the company has quickly built a reputation for reliability, attention to detail, and strong community values.
Behind the business is owner and operator Devin Stewart, a full-time bus driver who turned an entrepreneurial idea into a growing local service company.
Devin’s path into window cleaning was a thoughtful one. After researching different side-hustle opportunities, he saw that window cleaning offered low start-up and overhead costs compared to many other service businesses. At the same time, he noticed a growing number of retirees in the Kingston area who were no longer comfortable climbing ladders to clean windows or gutters themselves.
Cleaning, however, wasn’t new territory for Devin. Growing up, he worked alongside his grandfather in a custodial business, learning early on the importance of cleanliness, consistency, and attention to detail. Those experiences laid the foundation for what would eventually become Monday Window Cleaners.
The business name has a story of its own. As a bus driver, Devin’s regular days off for years were Sunday and Monday. Since Mondays were consistently free, the name felt natural — and memorable.
Many people associate Mondays with stress or frustration, so Devin leaned into the contrast. The goal was simple: turn Mondays into something positive. The company slogan, “Taking Mondays from streak to shine,” captures that mindset perfectly.
Entrepreneurship has always been part of Devin’s life. His father owned several businesses, and both his grandfather and mother were small business owners at different points. While he always had business ideas, window cleaning and exterior services felt like the right place to start.
Beyond flexibility and independence, Devin was drawn to the idea of building something long-term — something that could eventually support his family and create future opportunities. Monday Window Cleaners also began with a very real personal goal: saving toward a down payment for a home while building a sustainable business.
Although the business officially launched on January 1, 2025, the groundwork started months earlier in August 2024. Planning, research, and preparation went into pricing, insurance, safety, marketing, and customer communication.
The early days came with a steep learning curve, but each completed job built confidence. Seeing the first repeat customers was a turning point — proof that the service, care, and consistency were making an impact.
Like many new business owners, Devin has learned a great deal beyond the technical side of the work. One unexpected lesson has been seeing how many people struggle financially while relying on government assistance. Through job inquiries, he’s encountered individuals with disabilities who want to work but risk losing their fixed income if they do.
It’s given him a deeper appreciation for how employment systems affect real people — and reinforced his belief that small businesses can play a meaningful role in their communities when given the right support structures.
Balancing family life, a full-time job, and a growing business has been one of the biggest challenges. Weather dependency, scheduling, and learning to price services confidently were early hurdles as well. At the same time, the rewards have been significant.
Key milestones include landing the first commercial clients, being added to recurring service rotations, and earning repeat residential customers who trust the work being done. Word-of-mouth referrals and strong community support have also played a bigger role than Devin ever expected.
At its core, Monday Window Cleaners is built on reliability, safety, and care. The business is fully insured, community-focused, and committed to doing the little extras that keep customers safe and satisfied.
Looking ahead, Devin’s long-term vision is to expand services, create local employment opportunities, and grow the company without losing its personal, small-business feel.
For Kingston residents and businesses, Monday Window Cleaners is more than just clean glass — it’s a reminder that with the right mindset, even Mondays can shine.
